In the 1980s, Manoharan was the city’s biggest player in crude oil smuggling. A man named Patani wanted to build a private port so that all the black market oil could be handled from there, but Manoharan was against his dream. To get his way and pressure the government, Manoharan stole a large quantity of oil from a pipeline. Ultimately, Vasu recovered the missing oil.
